Abstract
This edition of the UT Southwestern Internal Medicine Grand Rounds features presentations by the six Foster Fellows selected as finalists from the Sixth Annual Donald W. Seldin, M.D. Research Symposium, which was held on April 23, 2021. These Foster Fellows presented work that spanned the breadth and depth of scholarly activity across the department, and at the close of Grand Rounds, one will be selected as the 2021 Seldin Scholar, in honor of Dr. Donald W. Seldin. The Grand Rounds presentation also includes additional awards honoring Clinical Vignettes and an award for work in Quality and Education at Parkland Hospital.
The specific presentations in this session are "Natural History and Risk of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Patients with Indeterminate (LI-RADS 3) Observations: A Preliminary Analysis" by Ashwini Arvind; "An Extensive Renal Cell Carcinoma Tumorgraft Platform Supporting Innovation and Advances in Biological Understanding, Biomarker Development and Precision Medicine" by Roy Elias; "COVID-19 and Kidney Transplant Recipients: Immunosuppression Management and Outcomes" by Meredith McAdams; "Laboratory Stewardship as A Cost-Reduction Initiative During the COVID-19 Pandemic at The VA North Texas Health Care System" by Alonso Pezo Salazar; "Longitudinal Trajectories and Predictors of County-Level Cardiovascular Mortality in the United States: (1980-2014)" by Shreya Rao; and "Maladaptive Atrial Remodeling in Muscular Dystrophy" by Rahul Sheth.

The Donald W. Seldin, M.D., Research Symposium is the annual showcase research event of the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Highlighting the tremendous research activity of Internal Medicine residents and fellows, the Symposium brings together trainees, faculty, and staff to celebrate the collaborative mentored research performed by Internal Medicine Trainees.
