I wrote this poem after Sage Kotsenburg, first Olympic gold medalist in Snowboard Slopestyle, won a contest called Natural Selection. It was his return to competition after walking away shortly after his Olympic victory due to the pressure. He was a new man, and I've noticed other Olympic snowboarders experiencing a similar struggle with what's supposed to be your greatest achievement and a sense of dissatisfaction. I wanted to explore those emotions in my poem.en
