This work received third place in the "Open Verse Poetry" category from all literary works submitted in the 2018 On My Own Time show and was read aloud by the author at the annual Literary Night, which was held from 6-8 p.m. on October 11, 2018, at the AT&T Performing Arts Center.en
E TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT WHAT INSPIRED THIS WORK: I love burlesque, and I found H.L. Menken's word for a dancer, "ecdysiast", particularly curious, as in science, it describes the process of a snake shedding the skin. I thought I would marry the art of burlesque with scientific observation in this poem.en
