| dc.description.abstract | Public health departments have a fundamental ethical responsibility for protecting their communities and over time have acquired important skills in responding to emerging threats. State and local health departments across the country have faced complex weather-related and environmental disasters in recent years and are at the forefront of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Health departments must be ready and well prepared for emerging health threats that endanger the community on a daily basis. Dr. Shah will address the role and ethical commitments of public health before, during, and after disasters, and how internal and external public health planning protects the community year-round. | en |
